Sandwiched between a former hospital and former government farm lies C&E Farm—an urban oasis. The pick-your-own farm specializes in chemical-free produce including ethnic crops such as callaloo and sweet potato greens. C&E Farm also offers a variety of children's education programs. While the pick-your-own operation was a focus from the start, owners Cornelius and Emma Dudley expanded their business after they hosted a Cub Scout group and taught them how to grow their own potatoes and rank badges. Today, the farm offers educational programs as well as seasonal experiences, such as a pumpkin patch every October. Visitors may enjoy the petting farm, pick your own blackberries, and pony and hayrides. The venue is available for parties and private events.
Currently, C&E offers a Groupon promotion for their ‘On-the-Farm’ or ‘On-Location’ Farm to School Healthy Eating Program for kids. The program is recommended for kids, ages 3–12, provides lessons to promote healthy eating, and offers a variety of games and hands-on activities.
