In the late 1800s, the U.S. was home to just over 4,000 craft breweries. While the number declined through prohibition, the industry has exploded over the last decade. There are over 5,000 U.S. craft breweries, more than ever, for beer lovers worldwide to visit and enjoy.
Since the first colonial period brewing company opened in Annapolis in 1703, Maryland has a long and proud brewing history. We are fortunate to have two (soon to be three) breweries in Prince George’s County. We hope you will check them out if you haven’t already.
Calvert Brewing Company
Calvert Brewing Company is Maryland's first designated farm brewery. With a dedication to pride, loyalty and quality, we are committed to building a better beer. We make a craft option to fit all tastes, whether you're new to craft, or the nerdiest of craft beer drinkers. Our list of year round beers is unique and steadily growing, with specialty beers for every season.
We have a small brewing system on our farm in Prince Frederick, Md., where you can visit our beer garden. Last year we also opened our state of the art production facility and tap room in Prince Georges County, Md.

Franklins Restaurant, Brewery, and General Store
Located in the heart of historic Hyattsville MD, Franklins is Prince Georges County’s first microbrewery, and the only combination restaurant, brewery, and toy store in the world. Franklins is a gathering place with deep roots in the Hyattsville community.
Since its inception, Franklins has been a destination for local families and craft beer lovers alike. The food menu combines quality brewpub fare, together with a host of locally sourced seasonal specials. We source our food locally whenever possible. It is our philosophy that choosing fresh, local ingredients benefits both our guests and our community. Whether it is a dry aged burger from Baltimore County, or a tomato grown in Prince George’s County, our customers get to enjoy the freshness and vitality that seasonal food at its peak can bring, while also supporting the local hardworking people who provide us with such food.

Streetcar 82 Brewery (coming soon!)
Jon Cetrano, Mark Burke, & Sam Costner are the three guys behind Streetcar 82 Brewing Co. We all are graduates of Gallaudet University and each of us left the D.C. area after college. We returned to D.C. at different stages of our career and with an additional thirst for something more. We wanted to create *something* that we could bring and share with the community. Jon and Mark are home brewers and have been brewing and drinking good beer for quite awhile. Sam, however, is a bourbon-lover who has learned the dark arts of brewing beer.
The three of us got together one night and drank our home-brewed beer and like every other cliche microbrewery story we said, "Hey, we can do this professionally." The next morning, however, we really decided to do it. We're now working on bringing our brewery to Hyattsville, MD.
