Join the Accokeek Foundation as they partner with Do More 24 to help with their meadow.
“Grassland habitats are rapidly disappearing. Piscataway Park is home to almost 60 acres of pasture land, but that pasture land has exhausted soil, shallow root systems, and a reduced biodiversity of wildlife and habitat.
This year, through its regenerative agriculture project, the Accokeek Foundation embarks on an experiment--a MEADOW experiment--to improve the soil health of our pasture land.
By establishing a meadow in some of these exhausted pastures, we hope to transform them into oases of biodiversity, and preserve the historic spaces that are unique to this park's natural landscape.
And we need YOUR help to bring the meadow to life.”
Each donation pledged during the 24 hours from noon on May 17 throughnoon on May 18 will help fund soil sampling, support wildlife inventories, purchase native seeds, and provide volunteers and students with the tools and safety equipment necessary for establishing the meadow.
