Prince George’s County vineyards are part of the Patuxent Wine Trail which also represents the vineyards and wineries of Calvert and St. Mary’s Counties. These farms are nestled between the Patuxent and Potomac Rivers and the Chesapeake Bay. The area’s soil and climate are quite similar to the Tuscany region, and local wine makers are creating award-winning wines to rival those anywhere.
Once Robin Hill Farm and Vineyard opens its tasting room this fall, Prince George’s County will have the closest cluster of wineries in the state, making it an ideal destination for wine lovers in the Washington D.C. Metro area. Grab a picnic basket, and head to Southern Prince George’s County for an afternoon of sun and fun. The wineries may be relatively young, but their wines are sophisticated.
